I wanted to become a therapist after working with children in the system, which made me realize that so many people simply need someone to truly listen to them. Through that experience, I saw how often individuals were overlooked or misunderstood, despite carrying deep emotional pain.
Additionally, as an athlete striving to create a better life for myself, I noticed that many of my teammates were dealing with their own trauma and personal struggles. I often became the person they turned to: to vent, seek support, or look for guidance. Being trusted in that role showed me the impact of empathy, understanding, and having a safe space to be heard. These experiences ultimately solidified my desire to pursue a career as a therapist, where I can support others as they navigate healing and growth.
